We Work For Children (WWFC) is a charitable organization with the mission of building a bridge to equity by providing sought-after resources and unique opportunities to children and families from diverse backgrounds.
Signature program · Launching January 2027
Families donate new and gently used children’s items and earn Opportunity Credits — one credit for every item donated, one credit for every item shopped. Clothing, shoes, equipment, toys, books and accessories, cleaned, sanitized and re-packaged, at no cost to families.

Young people ages 16–24 serve as digital apprentices, operating real shop technology while learning responsible AI use, digital systems, human-centered problem solving, and employment readiness.

It took a very young man named James in a fourth-grade class to ignite the passion Dr. Sam has for helping children. She was just 17 years old herself — and all these decades later, that passion has never wavered. She is still an educator, and still helping children.
Working as a Senior Administrator for the Department of Education in Lincoln, Nebraska, she added a tag line to her email — “Never Forget… We Work For Children” — and said it out loud, multiple times a day, until her whole staff understood how their work reached children in classrooms. While she was away for a few days, her staff painted children from a myriad of ethnicities and cultures, all holding hands and smiling, across the glass wall of her office, with the phrase written beneath them: “Never Forget… We Work For Children!!!”
That year, her 27-person staff — serving 253 school districts across two time zones — cancelled external contracts and completed the work internally, saving more than $850,000 of a $6,000,000 budget.
