KidCo Shops
Launching January 2027
Providing new & gently used clothing, shoes, equipment, toys, books and accessories — all cleaned, sanitized and re-packaged for children of all ages, at no cost.
Purpose
The purpose of WWFC KidCo Shops is to provide families with PK–16 students a cost-free opportunity to obtain gently used, cleaned and sanitized clothing, equipment, instruments and supplies for school — ultimately, drastically decreasing their household expenses for the long term.
Families donate gently used items and receive 1 Opportunity Credit per item. Those credits can then be used to shop for other gently used items their children need. Essentially, KidCo Shops recycles your initial investment — and more.
How it works
- Donate. Anyone can donate items to KidCo Shops, on scheduled intake days. Each item is reviewed to assure it is clean and working — our dignity standard: we never offer items that do not meet our quality guidelines.
- Earn. For each item received, 1 Opportunity Credit (regardless of the value of the item) is issued to the donor’s account, or to any account they designate.
- Prepare. Items are sanitized and packaged nicely.
- Shop. On scheduled shop days at various locations, parents and guardians redeem the credits on their account. The cost of each item is 1 Opportunity Credit (regardless of the value of the item).
How to get started
Parents and guardians sign up for a KidCo Shops account. Accounts are held by adults with at least one child, from infant through age 23. Upon registration, a KidCo Credit Card is issued with a unique family identification number — so donors can have credits applied to your family’s account, even in your absence, by providing your account number.
Credits are transferable person-to-person, and can be donated to a community pool for participants in need. Receipts show the opportunities you have created — credits earned and donated — plus your estimated savings from donating and shopping, annually and for a lifetime.
Unassigned donations
When KidCo Shops receives donations that are not assigned to a specific family account, there will be a monthly drawing. All unassigned credits will be randomly assigned to selected KidCo accounts, and parents and guardians will be notified electronically.
What happens to cash donations
- Needed items. Cash donations purchase items that are needed but have not been donated. Registered parents can add to the KidCo Shops “Need List”; need lists are evaluated monthly and WWFC purchases as many items as possible.
- Mini-grants. Cash donations award mini-grants to students who would otherwise be unable to participate in programs that would have a positive impact on their lives, at WWFC’s discretion. A mini-grant application must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the funds being needed.
- Anonymous assistance. When WWFC is notified of a specific family or child need, scholarships and need assistance may be provided anonymously.
Our technology
KidCo Shops is powered by proprietary software developed by We Work For Children. Access for partners and funders is provided by agreement, once the appropriate paperwork is complete.
